Barbara Shuman

Barbara provides individual and family therapy sessions, specializing in common disorders of daily living such as depression, anxiety, trauma, family relations, academic difficulties, and stress management. Additionally, Barbara has a particular focus on infant mental health, prenatal, and perinatal issues. Through her modality of treatment, Barbara believes in the power of psychoanalysis to uncover the underlying causes of distress and help clients achieve long-lasting life changes, where clients feel empowered, as they gain a more enthusiastic and joyful way of living.
Beyond her clinical work, Barbara has presented papers at international conferences on topics related to psychoanalysis and its clinical practice. She is also a faculty member at the Clinical College of Colorado, where she teaches the theoretical and practical applications of Freudian and Lacanian psychoanalysis.
